The Signal Read
For when you have a question, not a project.

Book a fit call firstWhen this is the right call
Sometimes you don't need three weeks of new research. You need someone outside the building to look at what you already have and tell you what it means.
A Signal Read is for:
- A single decision you can state in one sentence
- Evidence you’ve already gathered but can’t read
- A team disagreement you need an outside tiebreak on
- A low-risk way to work together before committing to a sprint
If your question is “what should we do?”, that's a sprint. If it's “does this mean what I think it means?”, that's a Signal Read.
What happens
Before: You send materials — deck, analytics, interview notes, sales calls, support tickets, whatever you have. Messy is fine. Messy is usually more informative.
The session: Ninety minutes on the actual question. Not rapport-building, not discovery, not a pitch. We go straight at it.
After: Within three business days, a written memo covering:
- What your evidence actually supports
- What it doesn’t support, that you may be assuming it does
- The single biggest gap in what you know
- What I’d do next, in order
Why it costs money when the fit call doesn't
Because they're different things.
The fit call is twenty minutes to find out whether we should work together. It's free because that question benefits both of us.
The Signal Read is ninety minutes of actual analysis plus a written deliverable. That's work, and work has a price.
Credited against a sprint
If you book a Validation Sprint within 60 days, the full cost of the Signal Read comes off the price.
Plenty of clients use it that way deliberately — a small engagement to see how I work before committing to the larger one. That's a reasonable thing to want and I'd rather you do it than guess.
How to book one
Start with a fit call. Twenty minutes, free, and we'll work out whether a Signal Read, a sprint, or nothing at all is the right move.
